Happy Tuesday Friends,
This is the first time I am doing a post like this. Typically, I do my empties on my youtube channel, look at me switching thing up 🙂 Let’s jump right in. I wanted to do a short review on these products, being I have used them up I can tell you how I feel about them.
Sunday Riley Good Genes I really enjoyed this product. There is something about using a product that makes you feel luxurious. Every night I would get excited because I got to give myself a mini facial in a bottle. Unfortunately, this product caused my skin to break out over time. My entire jawline had small bumps which then turned into scars that I am still trying clear up. I really wished it would have worked for my skin because I really loved this product.
Thayers Witch Hazel Okay so… you need this product. This was like no other toner I have every used before. I used to rave about the Neutrogena No Alcohol Toner. I use this product for so many things. It works great to take my makeup off, to tone, as a refresher and a micellar water. It helps to decrease inflammation and redness (that’s what pimples are!). I can go on and on about this product. I already repurchased and I had to get a back up to my back up.
OLEHENRIKSEN Truth Advanced Moisturizing Crème I have used this product before, this is about my second or third bottle. It is a great moisturizer but there isn’t much special about it. I do like the way it smells. It is lacking something that I can’t put my finger on. Not to discount this is a great product, but I still wanted to try other things. I know that is a weird way to describe this product but it is great.
Kate Somerville Ret-A-Sphere I don’t know why I have to explain how many times I have repurchased each product but I feel the need to share lol. This is number 2 for this product. In my mind retnol will have fade my dark spots because it is a chemical exfoliant. Welcome to my 30s because my skin must have changed, this freaked my skin out. The first tube I used it did wonders for my skin which is why I wanted to repurchase it.
Shea Moisture Shea Oil When I was in college my hair started to grow like a tumbleweed (lol) my hair dresser said it may have been the shea butter I was using. I had been on the hunt to find a better shea oil for natural hair and here it is. I found it. I loved this oil it was amazing very moisturizing and it is inexpensive!
Deva Curl One Condition I love this line! It does wonders for my hair. Washing my hair has been much easier. It provided so much slip making my wash day so much easier. I think I may have talked about this line in other post. Overall if you have natural hair… this should be in your shower. It is amazing.
Two Faced Better Than Sex Mascara I tried this mascara just to try something new. I normally wear the Benefit They’re real I wanted to try this because I heard great things about it. It was great, but I prefer they’re real.
L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer I. Love. This. Stuff! I can’t with out it. I am a big eyelash person, and when I discovered this my life has been forever changed. I think this is my 4th tub.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer I really really really like this brow pencil. I was using a cheap eyebrow pencil which was great, I had used that pencil for years, but I did like the face I needed to sharpen it after each use. I was on the hunt to find a brow pencil that I didn’t need to sharpen. I got lucky, not only did I find a twist up pencil but it also has an angled tip. It makes a more precise line and angle.
Hi Friends, Happy Tuesday!
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been making a few stops into Ulta to replenish my stash of hair products. When they have a sale on my favorites I like to stock up. In this case there was a sale on Paul Mitchell so I bought a few bottles (I go through a lot of conditioner) and SheaMoisture was on sale as well, and I grabbed a few deep conditioners and oils.
Conditioner– I have been using this conditioner for a while now. I love it! It helps assist with detangling my hair which is crazy knotty when I wash it. I like to use it as a co-wash when I am in a rush as well.
Hydration Masque– Naturally I have very dry hair. I didn’t realize how much moisture I should be putting back in to my hair weekly. I actually used this today and it was AMAZING. Oddly enough, there is a patch in the front of my hair that is always straight. When I used this my entire head was curly. It was a curl I had never seen before and can’t wait to see how it will work over time.
Protein Masque– Monthly, I like to add protein back in to my hair. Last month I finished a deep conditioner I have been using off and on for a couple of years, which was okay but nothing special. I think it would work on another hair type, but not so much for me. To replace that conditioner, I am going to try this one next month.
Baobab Oil– Usually, I just jojoba oil or something I randomly find in the beauty supply store. Being, this was on sale I wanted to try it because I was completely out of the random oil I had been using.
Shea Oil– Prior to taking an interest in my hair’s care, I used to use a really cheap shea butter GREASE (yes grease, remember that) and it made my hair very thick, plus my hair dresser (at that time) said shea butter was good for my hair. So, I wanted to try a healthier version.
Let me know if you want to see more about what I do for this hair 🙂
Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a great weekend. Today I am talking hair. It is funny that I don’t talk about hair very much on my blog considering… one of my dreams growing up was to become a hairstylist. I actually do hair on the side and love doing it quite a bit. Same goes with make up, I guess because once I have found a routine that works, I stick with it. Today I am giving you all my schedule (yes, schedule) on how I cleanse my hair.
I like to use three types of cleansers and I use them in “cycles.” Typically, I wash my hair once a week. At the beginning of the “cycle” I cleanse my hair with a traditional shampoo with the matching conditioner. In case you haven’t noticed, I have natural hair and I have learned over the years my hair responds better with less shampoo (it dries it out). The next week I co-wash (conditioner wash) which is when you just use conditioner. This allows me to redo my hair, provide moisture and lightly cleanse. The next week I use a co-wash cleanser and the matching conditioner after two weeks without a shampoo I start to get itchy (lol) so using a “no poo” cleanser allows me to cleanse my hair and scalp without drying it out. The last week in the cycle, I co-wash again, then back to the top. 🙂
Also, in the cycle is the deep condition process. I always try to deep condition when I wash my hair. My goal is twice a month but if we are being honest, I am lucky if I do it once (I am going to do better). I love this deep conditioner and I have been using it for years.
Let me know if you all are interested in seeing more hair post. I would like to share with you the tool and styling products I use too. Would you be interested?

Good Day Lovilies,
We are about halfway through the summer at this point. One thing I think is really important pertaining to the summer is protecting our skin from the sun. I am a huge skin care junkie; yes, I admit it. The skin is our largest organ and we have to take care of it. We always hear, take care of your skin when you are young or you will regret it later. I live by this motto.
Today I will be sharing with you the sunscreens I use on a daily basis, as well as when I am spending the day outside.
Daily Lotion: In the summer I opt for a lotion with SPF, such as Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion with SPF 15. Just to give me a light layer of protection in my daily activities. I started using this lotion for the first time this summer and I actually like it a lot. In the past couple of years I would used the Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Spray. After my shower and before my lotion I would spray this all over, then apply lotion, if you want to see all the products I use check out this post. I find using Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion with SPF 15 alone now, which is much easier, just a one stop shop. I still use the Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Spray, but on top of the Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion with SPF 15, for extra protection.
Face moisturizer: In the summer I increase the SPF for my face, just in case. I wear an SPF year round on my face but in the summer when the sun is closer to the earth, I like to take extra precautions to protect my skin. I have been using the Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturizer in SPF 50. I have been using this for about 2 years now, and I always go back to it especially in the summer.
(Bonus)Fashion: When you know you are going to be outside, remember to wear your sunglasses to protect your eyes and don’t forget your hat. Hats are so chic, especially when you wear a cute summer dress! I have a lot of examples on my Pinterest!
I hope you found this useful and you protect yourself while you are out in the heat 🙂
