This weekend, I was perusing the mall with a friend and came across this perfect sweater in Burlington’s. I haven’t been there in years, it takes some digging but, sometimes you can find really great staples for your wardrobe. Like this sweater, which is amazing for this time of year. It is not too heavy, but warm enough to keep you cozy on a chilly day. This sweater reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would have worn. I love a classic piece! I choose not to wear a necklace because I wanted the sweater to be the focal point. I love the way it is made with the detail of the sleeve and the mock turtle neck. Amazing!
Did you all have a great weekend? Hopefully you got to do something that made you happy!!
Happy Fall Y’all!
Today marks the first day of fall or for you Science Nuts… the September Equinox! Today I decided to share with you all what I am looking forward to this Fall. I love fall fashion… scarves are my weakness!!! Get ready for the fall post!!!
I would love to hear what you are looking forward to this fall?
I hope you all had a good weekend!!! This weekend I was slightly busy, but nothing to overwhelming. My mom came into town for the weekend and we spent all day Saturday hanging with my grandmother, aunt, and younger cousins. When we all get together we have such a good time. We visited my Grandfather, who is an absolute hoot. It was just a good time.
With the weather cooling off a bit, it has been the perfect weather to add a jacket to any outfit. There is something about wearing jackets that makes me feel like my outfit is complete. Jackets are my favorite article of clothing (apart from jewelry). This outfit is something that can be worn for any casual day, running errands, or even just relaxing at home. I have had this romper for about a year and I have worn it so many times. It’s cute and comfy… the perfect weekend outfit.
Within the last two years, I have attended the most weddings in my life. I went to four last year including my own, and three this year. I have to say, weddings may be my favorite type of party. I really enjoy prepping for events and occasions. To have so many this summers I was in heaven! Now I consider myself to be an expert, so let’s talk about Wedding Etiquette today!
Let me put this out there first. You do not have to match each other, but you should go together. Just because you have on pink, does not mean your date must to wear pink. Here is a photo of me and my husband, wearing outfits that goes together but doesn’t necessarily match each other. Ladies, if you are the type who will never wear the same outfit more than once (thank you facebook) there is always the Rent the Runway option. I love Rent the Runway, they have so many designer outfits that work well for so many occasions! Guys don’t you worry, you can rent a suit or tux from The Black Tux and look equally as stylish as your date. I showed my husband the easy to use website and he definitely thought it is the way to go for our next special occasion. Oh and by the way, it is affordable too!
One thing I am a stickler on, is etiquette, and not only with weddings but throughout life. There are just somethings we should not do. We all know we shouldn’t wear white or anything that can appear to be white at a wedding. Err on the side of caution, if you have to think about it, others will too. Also, make sure you look put together, no wrinkles, or stains. Please wear appropriate attire too, my rule of thumb is “would I wear this to church?” I like to wear more classy items to a wedding otherwise you can date yourself. When attending any event, dress nice, it shows you have respect for the event and those throwing it. Lastly, be sure to dress correctly for the occasion.
Typically if there is nothing indicating the formality of the wedding on the invitation, look at the venue and the time of the wedding. Typically, if the wedding is in the morning will be more casual, the evening tends to be more formal. For example if the wedding is being held in a castle, I recommend and evening gown or a really nice cocktail dress and a tux for the guys.
I hope this helps you all get through the rest of wedding season
I am sure most of you heard of the Bachelorette. This past season, I decided to watch it to see what it was all about. I loved it! Last night was the final episode of the season and JoJo picked my (and Frank’s) favorite, Jordan. They seem to be a great fit for each other. I knew that was who she was going to pick from day one. Jojo always seemed to gravitate to him.
I never thought this would be the type of show I would ever be interested in watching. It really is a guilty pleasure, the show is so dramatic and it sucks you right in. I even got Frank hooked. His favorite contender was Chad. Lol. For those of you who don’t know about Chad, he was crazy. The things he did on the show would just have us cracking up, thinking who in their right mind would ever. Some of the phrases he said, and his responses to things people were asking him. He was clearly in his own world!
If you are like me and never watched the bachelorette, here are some things I liked and disliked about the show:
- It is like watching a fairy tale unfold week to week.
- The show is very light, no deep topics.
- I enjoy completion or game shows.
- The entertainment factor is there 100%.
- It seemed one sided, the Bachelorette was the one calling all the shots. That is not the way life really happens.
- The show makes it seem okay for people to date a lot of people at the same time.
- In the overnights it was suggested, that the Bachelorette had relations with numerous guys.
- How dramatic the entire show was (although I did like it, at times it was a little over the top).
Overall, I did really enjoy the show and I do plan to tune in to the Bachelor. I can’t wait until they announce who it will be… I think I want it to be Luke! Apparently, the network is doing something different and may pick a random person instead of a previous cast member.
If this is a show you all watch let me know what you all think about it. Am I taking it too seriously, or is it really meant to be a light hearted show for sheer entertainment.
As you all know last week I was in Newport News, Va with my church on a couples retreat. The retreat was Thursday through Saturday, just in time for everyone to make it to church on Sunday. It just so happened to be comunion so we were able to sleep in (Communion service is at night). I am currently working on an in depth story on my faith and the journey it took to get to where I am now. It is very interesting/ entertaining.
Frank and I left at about 8am on Thursday morning. I suggested that we get down there as soon as possible, traffic is always unpredictable and it was a 3 hour drive. I actually grew up in that area, and I knew there were some outlets close by. We arrived at the outlets around 1pm and gave us some time to do a little shopping. After shopping we checked into the hotel and the festivities began.
We were able to experience the amazing voice of Kelly Price concert, followed by music and dancing in what we called “the love lounge.” Growing up my favorite type of music was R&B, 90s R&B holds a special place in my heart. If you can’t tell getting to see Kelly Price perform was amazing.
First thing in the morning, the coordinators included a time for everyone to walk around “love pond” or get in a quick workout. We started the morning in prayer, followed by breakfast. After breakfast which was about 2 hours, we had praise in worship before our first speaker. The first speaker, Bishop Kim Walter Brown was amazing. So much so, Frank and I purchased his book and got it signed. Bishop Brown, spoke about how our up bring plays a major role in the way we operate. It was very eye opening. Later that evening, we had dinner at a Brizillian restaurant that brought around endless meats, Frank loved it.
The morning was the same as day one, Frank and I had an amazing run this morning- I get excited for great workouts. The speaker this day was Mark Gungor, and he was so funny, we couldn’t stop laughing. I really enjoyed how he put the way men and women think into perspective. We purchased these materials as well. After this speaker it was time for lunch then we had to get back on the road to head back to Maryland.
Overall Frank and I loved this retreat. We have never done anything quite like this and we had an amazing time. We even bought our tickets for next year, the church gives a great discount when you register at the retreat. I am so excited for next year!
Recently, I had been on the hunt for a new devotional. I am always on the hunt for something it seems (this is typical for me!). I came across this blog post from Sequins and Things (one of my favorite blogs) and thought I would check it out. I did and loved it.
When I found this book my Paul David Tripp in Barnes and Noble, I ended up spending a bit of time in the book store reading this book. I love how easy it is to read and understand. It also gives you a book or chapter to think about throughout the day. Proverbs 8:17 says “I love love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me” -NKJV
