I wore this skirt to work a few weeks back and I shared the look on my Instagram. I’m so excited to share this styled look on here too. I just love this skirt, when I wear it, it makes me feel pretty. Those are the best items don’t you agree?
In the past, I would have defined my style as preppy. Over the years, I’ve moved away from the preppy ascetic and would consider myself to have more of a classic style. I’ve truly embraced this style simply because I like to have pieces of clothes that will stand the test of time.
One of my favorite style icons is Jackie O… I love her chic yet classic style. When I styled this look, it reminded me of my summers spent sailing. Too bad, I’ve only been sailing in my head, but the look is still super cute.
This is the first new post of 2018! Last week, I took some time off to get myself together. I had to figure out what is going to be on the schedule this year. Now that I am back, I would love to hear about how your new year is so far.
Typically, I try to avoid trendy trends. I have more of a classic style and wearing pieces that can stand the test of time is what I gravitate to. One of my pet peeves is when I have a trendy item that I love but I find that I don’t wear it as often because I know it is out of style. It makes me feel like a looser when I know the look has been laid to rest and I am still rocking it. I know it doesn’t matter and fashion is subjective but I’m honest.
One day I went browsing through TJ Maxx and came across them gem. It looked simple enough and I thought to myself it is inexpensive enough that when I am over there look I won’t feel like I’ve wasted my money. Bold sleeve has been on trend for so long I decided to give it a whirl. I have to say, I have worn this top at least three times before it even made it to the blog. It goes with everything and it is warm on these crazy cold days.
I love shopping at TJ Maxx for a few reasons. First, when you have a little extra time on your hands it is great to get lost looking for all kinds of things you probably don’t need. Second, you can find great things at a great price. What more do you need?
Can we take a second for these mules! They are the best option when you want to throw something on, but still look put together. I give these a great purchase award! I love an outfit like this because if you don’t know what to wear, a black tank and pants is always a great way to build an outfit.
Over the years I have been drawn to color – the brighter the better. One of my favorite things to do Is mixing contrasting colors together. I get a lot of comments that they would never have thought to wear that together (I take that as a compliment!). However, in the past year or two, I have been loving more neutral colors. I find all black to be the opitaimity of chic! We can even see this throughout the years. One movie most fashionistas love, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” when she wore that amazing black dress and pearls. I do, however, consider myself a fashionista, but I actually thought that movie was boring. I watch it for the fashions.
With black, by changing the accessories, you can create so many outfits that give you so many looks. You can have a sporty look when you wear an outfit with sneakers, then with the same outfit have an evening look with jewelry and heels (flats for me tho!). I just love how versatile one color can be.
You can even transition it throughout the seasons. I love a simple black t-shirt in the spring and summer. A black turtleneck in the fall and winter has been a staple in my wardrobe forever!
Do you ever have those days when you just don’t really feel like doing much? I think I have them way to often. I just want to put clothes on my body and get the day going. Lately, I have been making an effort to avoid wearing sweats on those days, and going for a more put together option. Which is where the inspiration for this look came from. Here I am wearing a comfortable shirt and a pair of black pants (which feel like you are wearing leggings). It’s simple yet comfortable, perfect if you are running out of the door and don’t have that much time to get your life together (this happens to me way more than I would like to admit lol). When it does happen there is no need to run around looking like a hot mess. I know it is hard but, I am honestly say it takes the same amount of energy to wear this outfit as it does to wear sweats.
Yesterday was such a nice day here. It was in the 60s and I was loving it! It made me even more excited for spring!!
Today’s outfit is simple yet well put together. When you add a blazer onto a simple outfit it pulls it all together adding a touch of class and chic-ness! I promise you con never go wrong with this look. If you don’t own a blazer get one. Seriously, all I have on is a long sleeve t-shirt and boots. When you add the blazer voila! I found this blazer last year in Target, yes Target. In my opinion it is a dupe for the JCrew school boy blazer.
