Today’s look screams summer! It actually reminds me of my childhood. A tank top, shorts, and sneakers were my summer uniform. Back in the good old days, I spent my summers riding bikes, playing tag, and making up obstacle courses. What were some of your best summer memories?

Minimalism and Fashion

IMG_2196

Last year I watched a documentary about minimalism. Ever since I’ve been fascinated with the topic. Something about living a more simpler life sounds so amazing. Imagine you won’t have to spend the entire day cleaning and wake up to an immaculate home. Sounds like a dream come true to me.

Those of you who love fashion and styling just like me, here are a few ways I like to keep my closet as minimal as I possibly can.

  1. Just buy what you need. Having a closet full of 8 v-neck black shirts is unnecessary. If you prefer a black v-neck, get a really good one that will last you through the season.
  2. Know your style. I talk a lot about personal style here, but knowing your personal style will take you a long way when building a wardrobe. For example, I prefer a more basic color palette, so when I come across that neon green cardigan, I know it won’t work in my closet and therefore I need not buy it. No matter how cute it may be.
  3. Stick to basics. Basics will bring you a long way. Now, if you have to have that neon green cardigan, you could buy it because your basics will make a great backdrop to this cardigan.
  4. Don’t keep up with the Joneses. This is what minimalism is all about. Not being sucked into consumerism. You can have everything you need to style an outfit but not go overboard. You don’t need those Gucci slides in the summer just because everyone has them, the black sandals you already have are just as cute.
  5. Discard often. I like to get rid of things very often, simply because I shop a lot. It’s the one in one out principle of minimalism.

Overall, if you want to live a minimalist lifestyle you can, but you may just put your joy into your closet. Which is fine because you can do minimalism your way.

Hi Friends,

I hope you all had a great weekend. Honestly, I am shocked I was able to get this post edited and live today. Last week was such a crazy week. I felt like I didn’t even have a chance to sit down. I am glad to start the week off fresh.

On another note, lets talk fashion. This skirt I have been waiting to wear once stockings were no longer necessary. I wanted to pair it with a simple t-shirt and a denim jacket. There is still a chill in the air here hence the light jacket. Plus, I love denim with everything 🙂

Happy Hump Day,

Have you all ever worn the pencil skirts from J Crew? I have them in a few colors and I can promise you once you wear one, you will want them in all the colors they come in. The good thing for your closet (but not your wallet) is that J Crew comes out with new and different colors every season. They go great with many things, boots, booties, flats, sandals, and dare I say sneakers if you want to get funky.

I enjoy planning pretty much everything! I have to say that this year I failed! I planned all these ideas about what I can do for Blogmas this year and imagined how amazing it was going to be.  Lack of time kept me from sharing these ideas with you which was a disappointed for me.  As time slipped away and I was missing out.

What I found is I wasn’t planning the time it takes to execute those ideas.  I call myself a planner procrastinator. I spend so much time planning things out, but then it leaves no time to actually do what I planned. Then, I begin planning on how to catch myself up so I am not behind. I also find that if you over plan you end up confused or overwhelmed, again causing the plan to fail.

The best advice is to keep things simple. First, before I add a bunch of fun things to the mix, I have to have the basics down. If I don’t know what I am going to be posting about (or have my post ready) for the month or week, that means I don’t have time to add fluff.

Scheduling is a necessity for me. On certain days I do certain things. Having that guideline about what I need to do keeps me on track. It also means I don’t spend hours planning what I need to do before actually doing it because I know what needs to be done.

I would love to hear from you all to see if you have the same issues with planning, or should I say, over planning, as I do.

I have another look that is majority from Old Navy. Seems like I shop there a lot. It’s funny I wouldn’t consider myself to love Old Navy, but apparently I do. They have amazing deals, and cute on trend items. Plus, they have great things for winter and fall. After linking the products I found a few more shirts I plan to get. Would you like to see what I am loving? I am excited to shop and share 🙂

It Requires a Vest

What would fall be like without wearing a puffer vest? I had this vest for quite a few years and I can honestly say I wear it often. Vest are perfect for this time of year because when you leave your house in the morning it is chilly then as the day goes on it gets warmer (this is when you remove the vest), at the end of the day it gets chilly again. What is your staple item for the fall?

Happy Tuesday, today is a little bit of torture for me. Yesterday was a holiday, and now getting back into the swing of things is always hard. Last night I stayed up much later than I should have. So I am feeling it today. All and all, lets make the most of it!

Today I wanted to share this simple outfit with you. If you are looking to make your outfit a little more polished, a long cardigan is the best way to do it in the fall. It’s so easy, all you have to do is put on one sleeve at a time 🙂 Booties help too, but if all you have is flats- go with it!!!

I have been wanting to work out for about a week now! I have been sick back to back and it kicked my butt, knocking me off my game. Tomorrow I should have time to go to they gym and I am going to go take a run which I am excited about it.

You may think I live in Old Navy, I do, but only because they have great things that are always on sale. I found this workout top in the spring for under $10. It is very comfortable, I love how it has a loose fit. I love wearing all back especially going to the gym. It makes working out chic.
