Blogmas Day 24: Families and Holidays

If you all read these post regularly, you will know that I am getting married a little of 5 months. Being that today is Christmas Eve and I am in Richmond for the Holiday. It got me thinking how to people who have families all over the country spend their time with family for the Holidays. Frances and I have discussed this and we have came up with an easy solution to the problem.

For Thanksgiving we would like to host our families at our house in MD, which is what I do now and bringing Frances’ family into the mix would be easy. For Christmas we have a fairly easy arrangement as well. Which is why I am in Richmond now.

We start off in Richmond, the day we leave Maryland depends on our work schedule but no matter when we leave we stay in Richmond until late Christmas Eve (about 11pm) then we drive the hour and a half to Virginia Beach, where my parents leave and bring in Christmas morning there. Depending on work schedules, we try to stay until New Years which is my mom’s birthday.

Blogmas Day 18: Updated Decor

A few post back I showed you all my Christmas Decorations. In that post I promised I would show you my living room when I finished it, I was lacking red. I updated my dining room with items I found at Target. I got the placemats, napkins, and napkin rings all under $30. IMG_2922

Maybe some of you are thinking, why add to the room a week before Christmas? Well here is the answer… I can always use it next year. Actually, last year I couldn’t find anything I was looking for. When I see Christmas or holiday decorations in the store (especially at a good price) I try to get it then and there. Otherwise, when I come back later it will be gone, and never to be seen again.

I hope you all enjoyed this post… until the next holiday.

Blogmas Day 10: I decorated… a little

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Normally, I am really late when it comes to decorating for Christmas. Getting the Evergreen Bath and Body Works candle in the mail made me want to get in the Christmas spirit. It’s just not logical to have the scent of Christmas without any decorations around me.  So I bit the bullet. Here is what I have done so far. Everything is a work in progress, and I will be updating you all along the way.

My dining room needs some work. There isn’t even any red in there, but I will keep you posted as to how it turns out. IMG_3018

Blogmas Day 4: Real or Faux Tree

Growing up my family always had a real tree. I don’t think I knew families had fake trees. When I was introduced to a fake tree I was in love and never wanted a real tree again. Of Course there are pros and cons to having a real or a fake tree, but I wanted to hare mine with you.

Real Tree:

Having a real tree you get to have to amazing scent running through you home. In my opinion that is the only good thing about having a real tree. Well also because you have to through it away after you spent how ever much money on it, you don’t have to find a place to store your tree the rest of the year.

Faux Tree:

Faux Trees are a little more low maintenance. You don’t have to clean up behind the needles, or water the base. Also, you only need to buy a tree once. Until all the needles fall off and your left with sticks, but that won’t happen for a while.

I am sure you can tell what type of tree will be in my home this year… but I would love to know what kind of tree you plan on having in your home. I actually need to go put mine together now 🙂

P.S. I made this!

Recently, I added some decorations to my formal living room. I made a gallery wall, but after moving all my photos I was left with an empty wall. So I went to the craft store to find some decorations for my living room. I came across a large painting that would have went perfectly! After putting it in my shopping cart I saw the price… $200. Do you know what I could do with that money? How many shoes I could buy!

Pinterest came to the rescue… I came across a pin that looked similar to this origin artwork shown below. I decided to keep the pin out of this post simply because I ended up liking the pinned project better than mine, and I am an over achiever but if you leave me a comment I will send it you 😉

I hope you guys like my Friday night project!
