I love this time of year, simply because of the sequins. If it’s not sequins it’s the metallics, or the sparkles… I just love it! This is an old outfit I contemplated posting again this year. I decided to post it because – why not! It’s cute and sparkly, perfect for this time of year.

What’s something you look forward to wearing each holiday season.

Last Minute NYE Outfit

Typically for New Year’s Eve I don’t have very exciting plans, I figured I would share and outfit that I would wear if I were going somewhere but the dress code is more casual. You probably have something like this in your closet as we speak. I have had this shirt forever. I got it from Target a few years ago and never wore it. It is not to dressy but it can still be festive. It only seems right to wear sequins for New Year’s Eve. 😉

I hope you all do have an amazing night, whatever your plans are please be safe!

Happy Tuesday! I think this week is going to be dedicated to parties to the holidays coming up THIS WEEK! Can you tell I am excited? Well I am 🙂 I love this skirt, I found it at TJ Maxx (a friend actually bought it for me) and I couldn’t wait to style it. This outfit would be great if you are going out to an evening party. I have learned the hard way that I need to wear a coat when I am going out in the evening. Once upon a time I was that girl running to a party trying to be cute and not wearing a coat to only wake up in the morning with my body aching from the cold. I have grown past that and decided to leave that in my 20s.

The Dessert Table

Can you believe how fast November has gone by? Thanksgiving is here, this Thursday :0

Every year I am in charge of the desserts! This year I wanted to share with you all what I will be making. Most I have made before, be sure to visit my instagram for how everything turns out.

Ingredients:
6 cups sliced and peeled apples
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 Box Betty Crocker Super Moist Yellow cake mix (dry)– I use gluten free
1/2 cup cold butter, cut into cubes
Directions:
Spray large slow cooker with cooking spray. Add apple slices, sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of the cinnamon; toss.

In a large bowl, mix dry cake mix and remaining 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Cut into butty with pastry blender or two knives until size of small peas. Dump on top of apple mixture. Cover; cook on high heat setting for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until fruit is bubbling and cobbler topping is light golden brown. Serve immediately.

Ingredients:

2 (8oz) packages cream cheese, softened

1 (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

fresh berries

Mint

Directions:

In a large bowl, cream together the cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice and vanilla extract until fluffy and smooth. Transfer to a piping bag or large food storage bag with the end snipped off. Pipe out a thin layer of cheesecake filling on top of the crust. Sprinkle with fresh berries and top with another layer of cheesecake filling. Finish off with a few more berries and a mint leaf. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

*Note- I had to change this recipe slightly, I like to make the filling put in an individual container, and add crumbled gram cracker on top. I do it this way because I am the only one in my family who is gluten free, in my opinion it taste better with original gram crackers. Of course mine will be gluten free gram crackers.

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt until well-blended.

Separate 2 of the eggs, saving whites in a bowl and discarding yolks. Whisk egg whites.

Add remaining egg to egg whites. Whisk well..

Add vanilla to egg mixture. Whisk well.

Add egg mixture to dry ingredients. Mix until blended. The dough should be fairly stiff and seem hard to mix–the eggs will not seem to mix with the dry ingredients at first. Keep mixing. If the dough seems too runny, add a little more powdered sugar and cocoa powder.

Add chocolate chips to dough; mix until blended.

Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto 2 cookie sheets lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes, rotating cookie sheets once during baking.

Remove cookies from oven. Let cool for a few minutes on cookie sheet, then cool completely on wire rack. Makes approximately 2 dozen cookies. (110 calories apiece)

Keeping it Suave

This weekend a few friends of mine from college, decided to put together a series of events to celebrate a friend of ours who passed away. November 1 five years ago Suave passed away. That was his nickname, he was smooth 🙂 Typically we would get together for dinner or something simple for his birthday. Over the past few years we haven’t gotten together, so we decided to do it big this year.

We started on Friday, for Veteran’s Day. Suave was really enthusiastic about giving back to the community. When we were given the opportunity to hand out flags to the Veterans at the World War Two Memorial, we jumped on the opportunity. We has such a good time, and it was nice to give back.

We had to dress like a park ranger 🙂

On Saturday, we hosted a brunch it was really nice, because some of Suave’s family stopped by and joined us. Spending this time together brought us back to the old times. After college we would have potlucks over Suave’s house, he was big on us getting together on a regular basis. Frank even made shirts for us with a drawing of Suave’s face on them.

Towards the end of the brunch, we all wrote a message on a balloon and let them float to the sky.

We even did the mannequin challenge!!! How did we do?

Here is a iphone pic of most of us from collage. We call ourselves “the fam” I think Suave came up with that name 🙂

Did you all do anything fun over this holiday weeken? I would love to know how you all celebrated Veterans Day.signature2

Bachelorette Party in Miami

Happy Wedding Wednesday Everyone!!!!

Last weakend me and a few of my Maids went and celebrated my last few days as a single woman in Miami. We had so so so much fun! It was surprise after surprise. First when we got there Nikki ordered car service to get us to the hotel! Is it okay for me to admit that I love stuff like that! It just makes me feel so fancy!

When we got to the hotel, which was very nice, Nikki came up with this “story” saying she had to go to the bathroom and needed her privacy. I thought that was odd because we lived together for about 7 years, but to eaches own. So me and the other girls went and waited by the pool. After an amazing night out, I come back to the hotel to see it decorated, my mouth dropped!! It was so special!

Just a moment in the weather, it was amazing!

Over all me and my favorite girlfriends had such an amazing time… Fun, laughter, and food. I hope you enjoy the pictures posted below.

Blogmas Day 22: Holiday Hair and Makeup

It’s begenning to look a lot like Christmas! I start to get so excited when we start to get closer to the holidays… it’s countdown time 🙂 For those of you have have a few parties to attend here are some looks that will give you some inspiration.

First we are going to start with my favorite… Hair!

As you all know I have natural hair so this mohawk is so edgy for a NYE party. I am not sure if I would every pull it off, but those ladies who do… get it!

You can’t every go wrong with a sky high bun! Buns go great with just about any outfit… especially if you are wearing statement jewelry.

This bun here… gorgeous! Braided buns, are so romantic, effortless, and chic!

After the hair is done, we now have to do our makeup.

This is by far my favorite makeup look. Natural eyes and a bold lip.

This look is very glamorous and sultry, perfect for a Christmas party. Imagine wearing this with a bright red dress!

Bold lashes… enough said.

xx
