Hey Guys!

So, I guess winter came early this year, we are expecting snow here in the DC area. I can’t believe it, I really thought we would have a while longer before it started freezing. Nonetheless, I guess it’s time to start getting winter content to you all. Honestly, I’m okay with that because I have some fun things in store.

Today, I wanted to share this simple outfit because there is so much stuff going in. I’m prepping for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Not to mention Thanksgiving is next week. But, enough complaining, here is an outfit you could easily wear to work or just running errands around town.

I posted this look last year leading into the fall months. It was actually one of my most viewed post from last fall. I wanted to share it again, because of this amazing chunky sweater. This look is so easy, and will always work when you have jeans and a simple shirt and oversized cardigan will make the look stylish and chic. Here I have on a nice blouse, but typically I will wear a plain t-shirt and add the sweater which is only of my favorite looks. The sweater keeps you warm when the weather is chilly.

If you are looking for an amazing cardigan here are a few you will love.

Fall Wish List

Fall Wish List

Hi Friends, have you heard it’s officially fall! Which means I am officially excited to refresh my wardrobe and share new things with you for this new season we are entering. It actually started to get cool here in the DC area, but I’m not sure it will last the rest of the season. Nonetheless, I am excited to find some fun new items.

  1. Camo Crew Sweatshirt – Camo is on trend this season and I can’t even express how excited I am about it. I have always loved camo and so happy that it is gracing my closet this season.
  2. Denim Mini Skirt– This is a classic staple that has been missing from my wardrobe for a couple of years. It seems like denim minis are in every store this season. I haven’t found the perfect one yet, but I have my eye out for the best one.
  3. Mockneck Sweater– Sweaters are something I like to refresh my wardrobe with every season. When I saw this color it just screamed fall to me.
  4. Faux Leather Jacket- This is a part of my fall uniform. Moto jackets make just about any outfit and I like to add an update to my wardrobe each season. I may have more than I need at this moment, but it seems like every year it all about the updated colors.
  5. Riding Boots- Boots are a necessity for the fall. Just like the moto jacket, it is always a good idea to update your boots each season. Riding boots are my favorite, currently, I have a tan pair and would love to acquire a black pair.
  6. Wideleg Pants– these pants, in particular, caught my eye, I have nothing like them in my closet which is why they made this list. Every wardrobe needs a wildcard.
  7. Plaid Backpack– I like to buy a new purse or bag each season. Plaid is always a fun print to play within the fall, I thought this would be something different.
  8. Floral Top- Floral is in this year, and I don’t plan on missing out on this fabulous print. I like this top because it can go with just about anything, a moto jacket, cardigan, or even on its own.

Hello There! You all know my love for leopard. I think I shared this dress on the blog last year and was excited to style it again this year transiting into the fall. I found this dress at Old Navy, I ordered this dress in a tall from online. If you ever come across a dress that may be too short, see if it comes in a tall to give you a little more length.

The dress its self is is very form fitting, I like to tie a shirt around my waist to define my waits and it is a stylish way to make the look not seem so dressy. Which is great because I chose to wear sneakers with the dress.

The sneakers I’ve talked about before (I have them in grey too). Every year I buy a new pair from Target. They hold up well, look great with dresses, and most importantly they are affordable.

The Last Summer Look

Looks like this is going to be my very last look for the summer. Guys, you know I love a great deal… I actually found this top from Walmart for $9. Typically, I don’t think about my clothing needs when I go into Walmart. I usually run in grab what I need and run out as fast as I can.

I want to encourage you all to walk through the clothing section of these types of stores, you never know what kind of items you may find there. Granted, you may not find the very best quality, but how many times would I really wear this type of shirt? Not very often, which means there is no need to spend a lot of money on something you may wear only a few times. I actually wore this shirt for the first time on Independence Day. I wore it with a pair a denim shorts just like these but I was going for the red white and blue look.

How to Style Basics

One of my favorite ways to put together an outfit is to pair basics and add a fun piece to bring it all home. In the styling world, it is called the third piece, or the finishing piece. Every outfit needs something to top it off, today I’m sharing five ways add the finishing touches on an outfit.

  1. Jacket or Vest – As shown here, I am wearing a vest over a pair of skinny jeans and a plain tee shirt. I also, like to do the same look with a jacket, but in the summer jackets are of course a bit to warm.
  2. Statement Jewelry – you can wear a big bold necklace, fun earrings, or a wrist full of bracelets. Whatever you decided to make sure you just pick one statement and let that be the focus.
  3. Shoes – I love making my shoes the main even in my outfit. Honestly, the shoes make the look so why not wear a pair of fun shoes. Imagine wearing an all-black outfit and metallic shoes, I’ve been loving that look this season.
  4. Bag – bold bags are great to make an outfit look very well styled, plus if you are anything like me, you like to have a lot more accessories and more classic pieces. An outfit will always pop when you accessories are fun.
  5. Let the basics be the look- wearing a monochromatic look is a statement in itself. My favorite is wearing all black or all white. I think it is such a chic look and that says a lot.

Gingham Midi Dress & Utility Vest

Here is another look I’ve been wearing lately. It was so hot here last week, and I reached for this dress almost daily because it is so easy and comfortable to just throw on. Now, I didn’t wear it every day, but I thought about it lol. It is the perfect dress if you want to look put together and still be comfortable in the crazy hot heat. I love the fact that it also looks good when you throw a jacket over it or even a vest like I have here.

Midi Skirts and Fashion Risk

I used to think they were not flattering on me because of where they hit on my leg. This summer, I’ve been loving the length. I feel like I’ve been taking more risk when it comes to fit. I am not big into heels and I think the most flattering way to wear a midi length is with heels (like shown above). Who cares- I like the length even if it makes me look shorter, it’s still fun.  Everything doesn’t have to highlight my best features, but it does have to be fun. I have more of a classic style and that can get boring really fast. What fashion risk have you been taking lately?
