Summer 2017 Reading List

Hi Friends,

Happy official first day of summer! Hopefully that means life is going to slow down enough for you to stop and smell the roses or at least read a good book 🙂 I have been getting back in to reading lately and I have been loving it. A fashion blogger I follow always gives the best book reviews and each time she provides amazing books that I always love. I enjoy thrillers… one of my favorite books is Gone Girl, and I have a few book reviews I plan do in the near future. Until I get that together here are books I am looking forward to getting my eyeballs on 🙂 Happy reading!

It’s officially summer!!!! In the summer I love to wear brighter colors. I found this dress a few years ago at TJ Maxx, I actually wore it for my bachelorette weekend. When the seasons change I like to put my clothes aways for the off season, I just pulled this dress out for this season and I realized how much I have missed it.

This dress is so comfortable and I like how it is something you can just throw on with flats and it is easy to dress up. How about those bows on the sleeves 🙂

Afternoon in the Park

This has been one of my favorite outfits I’ve been wearing this summer. If you can’t tell, I love to wear simple and easy outfits. Even the hair… all I do is wash and braid two simple French braids and I am good for about four days. Short sweet and to the point (just like this post!)

Summer Skin Protection

Good Day Lovilies,

We are about halfway through the summer at this point. One thing I think is really important pertaining to the summer is protecting our skin from the sun. I am a huge skin care junkie; yes, I admit it. The skin is our largest organ and we have to take care of it. We always hear, take care of your skin when you are young or you will regret it later. I live by this motto.

Today I will be sharing with you the sunscreens I use on a daily basis, as well as when I am spending the day outside.

Daily Lotion: In the summer I opt for a lotion with SPF, such as Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion with SPF 15. Just to give me a light layer of protection in my daily activities. I started using this lotion for the first time this summer and I actually like it a lot. In the past couple of years I would used the Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Spray. After my shower and before my lotion I would spray this all over, then apply lotion, if you want to see all the products I use check out this post. I find using Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion with SPF 15 alone now, which is much easier, just a one stop shop. I still use the Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Spray, but on top of the Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion with SPF 15, for extra protection.

Face moisturizer: In the summer I increase the SPF for my face, just in case. I wear an SPF year round on my face but in the summer when the sun is closer to the earth, I like to take extra precautions to protect my skin. I have been using the Neutrogena Healthy Defense Moisturizer in SPF 50. I have been using this for about 2 years now, and I always go back to it especially in the summer.

(Bonus)Fashion: When you know you are going to be outside, remember to wear your sunglasses to protect your eyes and don’t forget your hat. Hats are so chic, especially when you wear a cute summer dress! I have a lot of examples on my Pinterest!

I hope you found this useful and you protect yourself while you are out in the heat 🙂

Free Books

Over the weekend, I visited my public library. Its been quite a while since I’ve been and actually checked out books. Often, I check out books digitally, and read them on my iPad, but this particular day I wanted to waste some time and decided to see what was new in my library. Two hours and one presentation on American History later, I walked out with these books.

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode by Crystal Paine

Lessons from Madame Chic by Jennifer L. Scott

Unglued by Lysa Terkeurst

A Woman’s Secret for Confident Living by Karol Ladd

The Hip Girls Guide to Homemaking by Kate Payne

I strongly suggest you all go check out your local library and see if there is a program you may be interested in, or to just check out a book! It’s Free!!!! Depending on how many books I get through before it’s time to return them. I plan to do some books reviews and let you all know what I think. 🙂

My New Obsession

You all know I love working out. Which brought me to this new passion…. bike riding. Sunday I went on my second bike ride as an adult and now I am hooked. We rode for about 17 miles and it was great. We stopping to see the scenery while riding is amazing. There are So many things in DC that you can’t experience from a car.

There is something about having the wind in my hair in a hot day while going down a hill FAST just does something to me. Frank and I have been actively looking to purchase bikes before the end of the summer. We have been renting from a bike rental shop in DC and it’s adding up but so worth it.

If you follow me on Instagram @jazminmac then you would have already seen these photos, but so worth sharing again.

What have you all been into lately?
