- Dream out the future. Take a walk through model homes imagining about what your future will be like.
- Go sightseeing in your city. We always tend to take advantage of the sites we have in our own backyard.
- Have an indoor picnic. I’ve always wanted to have an indoor picnic, but we usually just eat on the couch and that turns into our picnic.
- Turn your dining room into a highend restaurant. Most of the time when we think of date night it usually has food involved. It would be so cool if we used the good plates. Light a candle and have a dinner worthy of white tablecloths and napkins.
- Go Exploring. Hands down one of my favorite things to do. It’s always fun to explore in new locations just to see what they may have to offer.
With Valentine’s Day slowly creeping up on us. I thought today would be a great day to tell you all about my crazy feelings about Valentine’s Day. Hold on tight because it’s a bumpy ride. First, I really want to care, honestly, I do, but I just don’t think I am a fan. I think a lot of people assume that because I’m married (and we are happy) I should care a lot about this “holiday.” The expectations I put on myself and Frank takes all the fun out of it and I all I really want to do is just hang out and relax.
After thinking about it, when I was single I would watch all my friends getting dressed up to go out on dates, only for me to stay home and just hang out by myself on Valentine’s Day. Of course, I was so dramatic about it. I would lay in my bed with all the light out as if I was in mourning. If that were today, I would have made a fun evening out of it, got some amazing take out and put on my favorite movie and have a good time alone or with other singles.
After a while, I was in a relationship and I thought to myself, you know what I think I should care about Valentine’s Day. So I would do all the fun things like find a new outfit, look up really fancy restaurants that had the perfect ambiance. Only to be let down every time, because I had unrealistic expectations. My husband (then boyfriend) is a cheeseburger and fries type of guy. For me to expect something else and for it to be amazing is unrealistic. He would have to stretch himself so far out of his comfort zone for something that isn’t that serious. Don’g get me wrong he tries, but when you have the type of expectations I have, failure is ineveitable.
Moving on today, we celebrate but in a way that works for us. One of my new year’s resolutions was to remove my expectations for things that really don’t matter. If Frank and I want to sit back and relax, watch a movie at home with Chinese food on Valentine’s Day, we can, and no one should tell us that we should be going out if that is not what brings us joy.
Moral of the story, be you and enjoy yourself. If you like to make a big deal out of Valentine’s Day DO IT and have fun with it. I do enjoy sending out cards to my friends and family, telling them how much I love them. I promise I am not a Valentine’s Day Grinch 🙂 Keep an eye out on the blog because you will be seeing a few posts coming up for inspiration.
*I styled this look in the summer, check it out here.

A few years ago, if anyone asked me how I felt about Valentine’s Day I would have given them the side eye. Ask me how I feel about it today. Honestly, any day that allows me to get dressed up and celebrate something I am so for it. With that being said, here is my very first look for Valentine’s Day.
I found this shirt in the sale section at Express. Lately, I have been loving their items. I can find some really cute things at such a great price. The dresses fit me almost perfect — I love them. Speaking of dresses, does this dress look familiar? It is my favorite Calvin Klein Dress in black. I posted about this dress a few weeks ago, you can check out that post here.
What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? I would love to hear all about it. Leave me a comment letting me know.
Some days I just love to throw on a simple dress and accessorize it, in this case with a scarf and booties. The simpler the outfit the more flashy I like to get with my accessories. It’s really a lot of fun. I found it hard to pair a jacket with this dress, maybe a blazer but I didn’t want the look to give off the vibe of office attire. I tend to wear this scarf with everything, so when in doubt I used it as a shawl. Being honest, I was very comfortable (and warm) which made it an A+ in my book.
It’s that time of year when everything is a shade a red or pink. A fun fact about me — I am not a fan of red or pink. I think it all came from when I was a little girl and I had a pink bedroom and it hated it. It’s like I have carried it all the way into my 30’s. I do like fuchsia pink. In my mind it is not the same.
Enough about my crazy childhood of pink hatred. Let’s talk about he outfit. When you think of Valentine’s Day most want to wear red in some way. I had these pants and thought they would go great if you want to wear the color of the season. Also, this look would be perfect if you were going on a more casual date, or if you are one of those lovely ladies who just don’t care to dress up (that’s okay too).
You can easily pair this with a pair of flats or pumps. Also, if you don’t have a leather jacket you could wear a black blazer as well. There are many modifications for this outfit.
Sorry there wasn’t a post yesterday, that was completely a mistake. That aside, I am here today with a new post 🙂
When I planned this outfit, I was going for a simple casual Valentine’s Day look. Once I saw the pictures I noticed that this would be a great outfit to wear to work, if you want to be festive on Valentine’s Day. Do you all do that? Sometimes it brings a little fun to what can be a monotonous work day. I am sure I’ve expressed how much I love leopard, it goes with everything and is hands down my favorite print.
These are my favorite jeans, and I found this blazer at TJ Maxx. This shirt was given to me by my little brother for Christmas, from The Limited which is no longer with us 🙁 I am sad about them going out of business, but glad I got this cute shirt at an amazing price!
We are halfway through the week, how are you all holding up! Can you believe Valentine’s Day is next week? I don’t have any plans as of yet but I am certainly looking into something.
It was so cold and windy this day, and this shirt would be amazing in the spring. I am impatient and wanted to wear it this day. I thought it would be a great shirt to wear (with a coat) for a casual Valentine’s Date. Initially when I picked up this shirt I grabbed my normal size and I didn’t think it was cute at all. Then I found another shirt that I thought was different, but when I tried it on I thought it was soo cute. Turns out I picked up an XL and I loved it!
